Independence Day

A poem

Masonic sheep
grazing
on hillsides

in Virginia, appearing there
like mystic
popcorn

in the long Jeffersonian
$2 bill–
tinted twilight

of early
July,
yippee-ki-yay.

Sheep
with human
eyes.
